Hi Guys.

I finally got ClamAV running as a milter. Took a while to work out that
sendmail 'calls' clamav-milter which calls 'clamd' through another milter.
The sockets were quite hard to work out especially the permissions. At one
point I seem to have erased the clamd command and overwritten it with a
socket (following a how to on google). Once I fully understood the operation
behind the sockets, configuring was a breeze. In the end I created a specfic
directory /run/var/clamav/clamavsockets, gave this access to clamav user and
group. When clamav-milter and clamd start they just sorted out the
permissions of the sockets in the directory.

Best thing of all, no more MailScanner! (so I hope no more Perl dependency
problems - Yeah!)

All my emails are now processed by Spamassassin (with dcc, pyzor and razor)
and then virus checked with ClamAV. I am monitoring spam detection for a few
weeks although high score mails are now rejected by the server.

Thanks once again for all the help. I will probably put together a 'how to'
soon for spamassassin, clamav, pyzor, razor and dcc if anyone is interested.

Phil.

I would certainly appreciate the how to.

Doug
