A bit more info - when I try and FTP from another BX box I get:

[root at server7 ~]# ftp 192.168.xx.xxx
Connected to serverx.mainline.co.uk.
220 ProFTPD 1.3.2a Server (ProFTPD server) [192.168.xx.xxx]
500 AUTH not understood
500 AUTH not understood
KERBEROS_V4 rejected as an authentication type
