I have the latest joomla running on my BX box.
Can't tell ya what I do to make it work thought
Let's see if those who know way more than me chime in.
Look at your folder permissions?
Maybe change your openbase dir setting
From
tmp/:/var/lib/php/session/:/home/.sites/28/site1/
To
/tmp:/var/lib/php/session/:/home/.sites/28/site1/
Just guessing here
