I have the following:

<Directory /home/.sites/143/site2/web>
 Options -Indexes
</Directory>

<Directory /home/.sites/143/site2/web/articles>
 Options -Indexes
 AllowOverride All
</Directory>

There was an 'All' in there but I removed that - still get the same problem
though.
