This did not work for me the compat wouldnt let it install, 

Just in case someone follows this track and gets frustrated (as I did)

Why so complicated?

yum install compat-libstdc++-296.i386 compat-libstdc++-33.i386
libstdc++.i386 

That ought to do the trick.
