  Are you sure this is PHP's mail function and not PEARs mail function? 


  I have SolarSpeed's PHP upgrade and found no MAIL function on SSpeed's PEAR install.


  I installed it easily (last week):
  1. mkdir cd /root/install/
  2. cd /root/install/
  3. wget http://download.pear.php.net/package/Mail-1.2.0.tgz
  4. tar -zxvf Mail-1.2.0.tgz
  5. cd /home/solarspeed/php/share/pear/
  6. cp -avr /root/install/Mail-1.2.0/Mail/ .
  7. cp -avr /root/installMail-1.2.0/Mail.php .
  8. rm -r /root/install
