Maybe it's just the LCD not updating... try

su -
service crond restart

Is the system running normally otherwise?  Are you getting the Swatch panel 
updated (so cron is running)?

If you need a helping hand, you'll need to explain the exact problem, 
symptoms and list a few things you've tried.
