Bind usually doesn't start unless the IP address of the server has at least an 
A Record. Otherwise the DNS server doesn't know it's own name and fails.

When you run a "yum update", what's the full output you get?

If possible, also post /var/cache/yum/x86_64/6.1/BlueOnyx/mirrorlist.txt - if 
it's still there after "yum update" has failed.
