Meh. That's not right. I just used the same mirror to update two 64-bit boxes 
and it worked just fine.

Do you by chance have a hardware firewall or proxy in front of your server? 
Some of these have the tendency to analzye and modify the HTTP stream, which 
insert or modify HTTP headers. Which then break YUM, as the XML files it then 
sees are not matching expected formats and are reported as corrupted.
