Hi all;
Not sure what happened to this box (5107), but yum is severely broken… yum clean all has not done anything to fix this.
First symptom came two days ago - cced died after the yum update of 8/28/12, so I restarted cced
Today, I noticed that this box didn't report the 8/30/12 updated that my other box did, so I shelled in and yum update reported that another application had a lock on yum. I restart the box from the GUI. That got rid of the stuck processes, but now yum update reports there are unfinished transactions. Argh.
So I try yum-complete-transactions - a bunch of stuff spits onto the screen, but at the end there are duplicates found:
Skipping the running kernel: kernel-2.6.32-131.6.1.el6.i686
--> Restarting Dependency Resolution with new changes.
--> Running transaction check
--> Finished Dependency Resolution
Error: Trying to remove "yum", which is protected
You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem
** Found 3 pre-existing rpmdb problem(s), 'yum check' output follows:
base-ftp-glue-1.2.0-77BX29.el6.noarch is a duplicate with base-ftp-glue-1.2.0-77BX28.el6.noarch
base-ftp-locale-ja-1.2.0-77BX29.el6.noarch is a duplicate with base-ftp-locale-ja-1.2.0-77BX28.el6.noarch
base-ftp-ui-1.2.0-77BX29.el6.noarch is a duplicate with base-ftp-ui-1.2.0-77BX28.el6.noarch
Rebuilt the rpmdb, but the duplicate issue remains. Where do I go from here? HELP! (LOL)
Regards;
Jeff
