Can you try booting from just one disk? I saw this a few months ago when the partition tables on my second raid drive were corrupt.
I eventually replaced the drive, but the tables were still messing about. Michael sorted me out with a way of to rebuild the partition table on the second disk manually.
This might not be the case so please tread carefully, but if you want to look it was thread 11170.
