There may be a chance that the 279 kernel is still installed. If you can
see the Grub menu, you can choose between either booting normally using
the latest kernel, or you can select an older kernel that's also still
installed.

However, I don't know what mechanisms (if any) HyperV provides to let
you see the console output of a container while it boots.
