Hi all,

Here is another progress report about the development of BlueOnyx
5207R/5208R with the new GUI.

The BlueOnyx 5207R demo server has just been updated with the latest
development snapshot.

Last night I finished the work on the last two pages of "Virtual Site
Management". With that step the new GUI now has the same functionality
as the existing BlueOnyx 5106R/5107R/5108R GUI's. It goes even slightly
further than that, as certain DNS records can now start with an
underscore and certain DNS records can have a '*' wildcard in the
hostname. Likewise, web server aliases may now have a '*' wildcard in
the hostname, too.

The only thing left to finish is the web based setup wizard, which will
be completed within the next 2-3 days.

After that there are plans for some additional functions. Some of which
will make it into the first BETA release of BlueOnyx 5207R/5208R. Others
will be added during the BETA-testing.

If you want to take a look at the current state of things, then here are

So far the development has taken one year and seven months and there
were times when I was up to my ears in code-spaghetti, having the knife
sticking in a dozen libraries and classes and nothing worked right.
There have been times when a small and sensible change or other
unleashed the hell of having to go back and fix things that were now broken.

But that time is long over and in the last couple of months the
development has progressed at good speed with very few setbacks or
surprises.

There are still things that I want to add to BlueOnyx 5207R/5208R before
we leave it out of the BETA-test:

- More refined reseller management: Ability to dissalow things like
AnonFTP and Shell access, PHP and so on.

- Some fixes and changes in how FTP support is handled.

- Support module: Generation of troubleshooting report and the
ability to request support from within the GUI.

- SSH key and certificate management from within the GUI.

- Import of users and emails from third party servers via IMAP-Sync.

- API improvements to allow provisioning of 'reseller' accounts.

But that's just the short list of things that's in the cooker. There
will be more sometime down the road.

So please check out the demo and if you like to contribute to the
development, then please consider donating to the project and/or making
time available for BETA-testing once we have the BETA ready.
