Followup:
I checked the maillog and the issue started this morning. So I checked to 
see what was updated:

Dec 21 06:00:47 Updated: ntp-4.2.6p5-2.el6_6.x86_64
Dec 21 06:00:46 Updated: ntpdate-4.2.6p5-2.el6_6.x86_64

Not sure if this has anything to do with it, but it was all I could find.
