I see. Please try this:

If the sitename is "www.site.com" and the name of the user is "user",
then please send an email to ...

user at www.site.com

... from the shell of the server.

Like this:

/usr/sbin/sendmail user at www.site.com < /root/.bashrc

That will email the file /root/.bashrc to that user in case it works.

Doing this takes a few unknowns out of the loop: Server Alias, alias of
the user and so on.

See if that works. If it does, then remove the "www" from the email
address and try again. If that fails, then we have a DNS issue or an
alias problem.
