[BlueOnyx:14741] fail2ban and iptables

Is there a way to stop fail2ban from rewriting a default iptables and just 
append the file?
I configured several rules in iptables. And every time fail2ban writes its 
drops to iptables, it resets it back to the default.  I have performed 
iptables save, restore, manually copied and saved. It does no good. 
If I stop fail2ban, the problem goes away and my mods in iptables are saved.
