[BlueOnyx:16319] FTP unavailability explained

Hi All,
We, probably like you, have heard from a number of users who have been 
prevented from using FTP today.  We know that Michael is hard at work on 
this and will advise us shortly.  In the meantime...

There has been so much activity that we have elected to post a brief 
explanation to share with users. I thought I would share it here for 
anyone who may find it useful:

The post also contains information on enabling SFTP/SSH File Transfer 
Protocol, which we do not recommend, but it does provide a work-around. 
   I would not advise anybody making that available to shared hosting 
accounts under any circumstance.   But if you are operating your own 
server and want to use it for your own purposes then perhaps it will be 
useful.
