Hi Michael,
After seeing this error in the log:
"Dec 16 16:15:07 ns bash: /etc/named.conf:36: open:
/etc/named.conf.include: file not found"
I decided to look in the /etc directory to see what may be missing or
updated. Knowing absolutely nothing about what I'm looking at, I saw where
at 6:02am this morning, when I'm pretty sure the error started, several
files were updated:
nsswitch.conf dated (DEC 16 06:02).
nsswitch.conf.bak dated (Sept 16 06:00)
nsswitch.conf.save dated (Jul 10 05:57).
passwd dated (DEC 16 06:02), along with passwd-.
kdump.conf dated (Dec 16 06:02)
@rc.local dated (Dec 16 06:02)
@redhat-release dated (Dec 16 06:01)
@system-release dated (Dec 16 06:01)
gshadow and gshadow- dated (Dec 16 06:02)
group and group- dated (Dec 16 06:02)
hba.conf dated (Dec 16 06:03)
the /YUM dir was updated (Dec 16 06:02) <-- I think there was a YUM update
Several other Directories were time stamped (Dec 16 06:01) and later.
I'm not sure if any of this helps, but I feel it's worth mentioning.
Thanks in advance for any help, as I don't even know where to begin.
Tom
