I wanted to mention 2 of my updates, purely for FYI, and hope it helps
others make a decision.
1. I've been running BlueOnyx 5209R for a while now. Installation was
straight forward. I followed the instructions for CMU migration for the old
server. I downloaded the latest 5209 ISO, burned to a DVD and installed. I
followed the instructions for the new server. I've gone through the GUI and
configured every menu to my preferences, setup cron jobs and configured the
whole system. I have not found one issue or bug. I think it is faster as
well.
2. I upgraded my Dfix to Dfix2. I have seen a big difference in what gets
though, on my server, after upgrading to Dfix2. I'll occasionally
run "iptables -L dFix2", to see how it is operating and it is always
returning a good blocking list. My most recent check showed this:
[root at ns etc]# iptables -L dFix2
Chain dFix2 (1 references)
target prot opt source destination
dFixblock2 all -- static-ip-209-126-121-18.inaddr.ip-pool.com anywhere
dFixblock2 all -- 50.2.213.238 anywhere
dFixblock2 all -- hosted-by.hostgrad.ru anywhere
dFixblock2 all -- each-format.magvin.net anywhere
dFixblock2 all -- 220-130-108-48.HINET-IP.hinet.net anywhere
dFixblock2 all -- verbosityadj.magvin.net anywhere
dFixblock2 all -- net-162-pc6.salnet.net anywhere
dFixblock2 all -- magvin.net anywhere
dFixblock2 all -- mnmjc.irrota.science anywhere
dFixblock2 all -- 6nj9ky0.servationonfines.link anywhere
So if you are using Dfix and want better results, I suggest switching to
Dfix2. Simple procedure, purchase it from the BlueOnyx store. In the GUI,
go to Software Updates / NewLinQ / Link a package. Then go to Third Party
Software / Check Availability (if not already there). and install. The only
other thing I did was add all my IP addresses to "/etc/hosts.allow" just to
be safe. I promise you won't be sorry.
I'm loving my server a whole lot more these days.
Thank You
Tom
