That totally depends on your rewrites. You don't necessarily have to
rewrite the domain part.

"Let's Encrypt" certificates have their imperfections. If you have an
.htaccess in place that will interfere with the online verification on
the auto-renewal, then it might perhaps be better to use a real SSL
certificate with a longer validity.
