[BlueOnyx:22445] Strange email issue on one 5209R

Noticed yesterday that I was not getting the nightly
logrotate and raqbackup messages from one server.
On checking, the messages are all going into 
/var/spool/clientmqueue directory, but are not
being delivered.  Running just mailq shows nothing in queue.
Message when running
mailq -C /etc/mail/submit.cf 
show the list of messages with the note:

Deferred: Connection timed out with [127.0.0.1]

for each message.

An almost identical (except for different customer domain)
5209 is working just fine.  Testing mail from the second
is processed and delivered correctly.  Testing mail from
the first (problem child) drops it into the clientmqueue
where it appears to stay.

Any ideas??
