[BlueOnyx:23162] default FTP path

I have a program that creates and then uploads files to the server.  I'm
having problems with it trying to upload to a BlueOnyx.  It used to work
fine, but now it seems it just tries to default to the ./user web directory
even though the user is a site admin, and through regular FTP can be
reached.
I tried different options trying ../ but it always defaults to the user
folder.
Is there a way to change the default user folder?
