where can I find the logs of FTP user activity?

/var/log/xferlog and the .zip from the previous days are empty, can't find relevant data in /var/log/proftpd/

I tried to configure a report in the GUI in SiteManagement > www.site.tld > UsageInformation > FTP, but the page returned «No data were found for activity during the period specified. You may want to try another set of dates.»
