[BlueOnyx:25582] root directory was gone this AM Unable to logon as root

Hi All,
Lost the root dir and can not ssh to root. I can ssh to admin.
Any Ideas how to fix?

[admin at ds1 .ssh]$ su - root
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
[admin at ds1 .ssh]$ whoami
admin
