There could be many causes for that. One of the more likely is that the 
email server succumbed to a brute force login attempt and fell flat on 
its nose. And within 15 minutes Active Monitor noticed it and restarted 
the email server.

If you want to find out what happened, then check /var/log/maillog and 
see what unusual events preceded the outage.
