I have an idea which you could try:

In /etc/postfix/main.cf we added one particular line:

smtp_sasl_security_options = noanonymous

Comment that one out for testing by putting a "#" in front of it and 
then restart Postfix:

systemctl restart postfix

I have the suspicion that this might fix it.
