Hi all,
With the recent release of Aventurin{e} 6110R and its adoption by users
the question has been asked:
How to get BlueOnyx 5210R OpenVZ 7 containers moved to Incus?
Moving them via Easy-Migrate and Easy-Backup are of course possible, but
might be undesirable.
So I just wrote up a detailed migration procedure that uses the Incus
migration binary and that creates a carbon copy of the entire container
on Incus:
https://www.aventurin.net/index.php?page=import-5210r-from-openvz-7
Don't get scared by that wall of text. The basic procedure is quite simple:
- Enter CT that's to be migrated as "root"
- Yum update the 5210R you want to migrate
- Download migration binary
- Place client.crt and client.key from your Incus node in / of CT
- Run binary, answer a few questions
- It migrates via Incus API
When done go to the Incus node, configure instance via shell (run two
commands) and finalize the configuration of the instance in the GUI.
Then start it. Enter the instance, run ...
/usr/sausalito/sbin/convert_venet_to_incus.pl
... and ...
/root/network_settings.sh
... and you have working network. Install and enable NetworkManager and
remove the client.crt, client.key and migration binary.
That's it.
