Team.
I wanted to share an update with you all regarding WHAM app package builds. The older build server was a 5208R server. I kept this one going well past its use by date, to allow me to keep building packages for those who had not upgraded for one reason or another. Well, today it was replaced with a 5210R server - with a standby 5211R server. Wham modules from here onwards will not be built for 520xR any more, since the old server has left the building.
One other topic relates to NewLinQ. I recently took a good look at some of the data, and found there were some issues. I wont do a full deep dive, but I will share some of the issues found and resolved:
1. There were some servers where serial numbers were not unique. This particularly affected Incus CT’s.
2. There was a large fleet of devices where end users had changed both serial and ip at the same time (rebuilds etc), with packages linked to an orphan server identity.
Unfortunately, I tacked the 2nd one first… before I knew about the first issue. Here’s what happened.
I searched for all instances where there was one IP with multiple serials. I merged all linked items to the one IP, and deleted the old serial. Theoretically, this was a nice clean seamless process. However, I later found out about the duplicate serial issue with Incus. Impact: There will be a number of devices out there with no linked packages. That means no updates. To check your server, go to Software Updates >> BlueOnyx Shop >> Status Check. This will attempt to “self heal” any mismatched newlinq records. You should see “Your connection to the NewLinQ server is operating correctly.”. Occasionally, you may see a message indicating its fixing stuff, and if you refresh that page, it will show it fixed. For any issues, open a ticket at http://support.compassnetworks.com.au/
There’s lots more that is happening under the hood - but I wanted to share the above with all for now.
Hope you all had a great Christmas season, and looking forward to the new year.
Greg K
