the user was seriously aware that if they clicked anything it might cause
problems/downtime and cost them for a fix. This keeps them a little
scared... a healthy attribute in users.</FONT></DIV>

possible at the moment.<BR><BR>There are two separate (hidden) switches in
the backend for each user<BR>("ui_enabled" & "enabled"). But for
practical purpose a user is either<BR>"enabled" and can do anything a
"normal" user can do, or he's "disabled" and<BR>can't even login to the GUI
or any service.<BR><BR>The two separate switches hint that the original
Sausalito developers may have<BR>considered having users with "read only"
permissions for the GUI, but didn't<BR>follow this idea through all the way
for practical purposes:<BR><BR>Part of the problem here is that the GUI
logins are "linked" to the system<BR>logins. So if you disable a user so
that he cannot use FTP, Email and so on,<BR>then this also removes his
ability to login to the GUI itself.<BR>
