I'd recommend not increasing the existing disks size but instead
adding a second virtual one to the VM and then just add it to the
LVM volume group and then grow the volume - both are doable while
the system is online. <br>
Growing the main disk may certainly be possible too, but you need
to boot from an emergency CD/system and first grow the partition
and then the filesystem and there is some room for great havoc to
happen with that while the approach with a new disk is pretty
fail-safe. <br>
