Hi all

I've tried installing BlueOnyx-5210R-CentOS-8.1.1911-20200116.iso (5210R - latest build) onto a Dell Poweredge R710 with a PERC R700 RAID controller....

As I've read, Redhat (and hence Centos) have removed lots of drivers in release 8... So... I've downloaded dd-megaraid_sas-07.707.51.00-1.el8_1.elrepo.iso from http://elrepo.org and burnt it to a CDRW as recommended in https://fatmin.com/2019/11/23/installing-rhel-8-1-on-dell-r710-r610-with-h700-raid-controller/

Boot into the BO DVD-RW that I've extracted the ISO to...

The initial menu says: "BlueOnyx 5210R on Centos 8.0.1905" .... Is it supposed to be 8.1.1911"?

Hit tab on the 2nd line (Single disk, no LVM) as the hardware raid is doing the job... Add "inst.dd" to the vmlinuz line and hit enter and the install starts....

The "Driver Disk Device Selection" prompt happens offering the main install disk and my "OEMDRV" CDRW... Select the OEMDRV and the install examines the drive - but it then prints "DD no suitable drivers found".

Thinking I'd messed up the driver disk, I downloaded the full Centos 8.1 package and successfully installed that by the same mechanism and the same OEMDRV disk for 8.1.... I've also tried BlueOnyx-5210R-CentOS-8.0.1905-20191118.iso but with the 8.0 version of the driver (of course they've changed things between 8.0 and 8.1!) and that worked - but when yum updated Centos to 8.1, it broke the driver so I had to reinstall (again - glad I'm not trying to use it in anger, just as the "new host" for my current 5106R environment!!). I've also tried the 8.0 version of the driver with BlueOnyx-5210R-CentOS-8.1.1911-20200116 and it just doesn't work - lots of error messages.

SO... I'm confused: the driver disk is fine with CentOS-8.1.1911-x86_64-dvd1.iso and yet won't work with BlueOnyx-5210R-CentOS-8.1.1911-20200116.iso which (in theory) has the same base OS...

Hopefully this has told you all you need to know :)

Regards & thanks for all the hard work you put in...

Neil.
