unable to enter first password

Network Services > MySQL > MySQL Server > Server

Enable MySQL Server: checked
MySQL Host: localhost
MySQL Port: 3306
MySQL User: root

pw
pw

"MySQL Status:
"MySQL connection cannot be established. Check settings."

This is the same issue that I had. I solved it by installing WebMin,
assigning a password for root and then going back into the gui and was able
to use the password assigned and then everything worked.

maybe there should be a default db and pw with install?

I used the "Change Password" tab to get around the "stuck" issue. I left the
current password blank. Then entered the password in the "server" tab and it
says connection possible with these settings.

Yes, that worked!
Thanks

It would be nice if the default DB names could use the vsite domain name.
db_domain_com
db_somedomain_net
Makes it real easy to find DBs
