So, if the mysql.mysqldump.sql dump file contains only the 'mysql'
database ... does anyone think this would solve my problem?

mysql -u root -ppasswordofmysql < mysql.mysqldump.sql

A "show databases;" command when I'm logged into mysql does not show
this database...
