Hi Ken,
If I'm not mistaken, the "defaults" will make changes to new sites that 
are configured going forward.  However, existing sites where the 
settings have already been written will not be touched.   If you have a 
bunch of sites to go through that have been previously configured, I can 
see how that would be a bit of a, um, inconvenience.
