I agree with anyone else that FC would be a very bad choice. It is a desktop
OS and has a very short life cycle. So it is not really suiteable for usage on
as a server OS for the kind of box that we try to deliver with BlueOnyx.

But yeah: BlueOnyx is modular and flexible enough that it can be ported to
different Linux distributions. If that distribution is RPM based, things are
even easier. If it uses different kinds of package management (see Debian for
example), then things get more complicated and more effort is needed for the
porting. But it's still possible. Keep me warm and fed and I'll do it in two
to three months.

I think what we're seeing now over at the CentOS list is just the usual storm
in the water glass. Impatient people are rippling the pond and want CentOS6
available like "right now" and accuse the developers of failing, because they
haven't delivered yet. Doesn't that happen like every time a major release is
in the works? It gets kind of old.

To be honest: I'm glad it's not out yet, because I currently wouldn't have the
time at hand to immediately jump at it and finish porting BlueOnyx to CentOS6.
The current tentative release timeline of March/April suits me much better.
:o)

If all fails and CentOS really dies (which I don't think will happen anywhere
in the close future), then we'll go through our options and will pick a
different platform for BlueOnyx. Probably it'll be a fork of CentOS, because I
think the CentOS project has reached a point where it is too big to fail. One
group of other will pick up the pieces and will fork it. But ultimately our
choice will then be based on what's available at that time and what is most
suiteable for the task at hand.
