I have clients that want safe hosting.  Who doesn't?  I have clients that
likes user-webs.  Who wouldn't?

What is the best way to have safe hosting, permission-wise, that still
allows user-webs?

Currently, I have been addressing this by having user's build websites in
their web space and then manually adding a symbolic link to their web
directories in the web document root of the main site, which has suPHP
activated.

This doesn't seem like the most prudent approach.
