BlueOnyx uses a slightly different mailer for vacation messages than 
BlueQuartz. The reason is that the message encoding was often not working 
right and the headers were in the wrong format.

I think this change removed or broke the Japanese encoding. 

Just to be sure: Which is the right encoding for Japanese emails? Is it EUC-
JP, JIS or UTF-8? Which of the three works best for you, Eiji?

I'll look into it.
