Thanks but no thanks...

Five minute quickies on how to install on the wordpress website - the
application is just a blog and publishing tool - with no references to the
510* series are probably a great way to bring a server down..they are like
the 'roll your own here is how to do it to install 5106R on a real Sun
Cobalt Raq 550, Raq4r or a Raq3...'.. ie they might have worked 12 months
ago before the Centos 5.x upgrade releases but they certainly dont work
now.. theres probably someone out there spruking about how to install PHP5
on a Mips based Raq2 !!!

I run mission critical servers on 5107R - as Compass Networks called it, the
cutting edge..

So my gear is feeding to 30+ regional offices and nearly 1,000 staff.. to do
this, I utilize both Compass Networks and Solarspeed packages. And the
complete range of packages from Compass and the AV/SPAM solution from
Solarspeed on a 5107R platform..if we analogy a server to a spacecraft, with
these packages they are fully operational battle stations rather than the
Wright brothers biplane that has been catapulted somehow.

Updates are delivered when they are released - and I get email notifications
from my servers to say they are available. The newlinq option for Compass
Networks alerted me to the release of 3.2.1 when they released the update,
which was a while back... thats what one gets for paying for support from
the .pkg suppliers.

Im going to soapbox as Stephanie did - its a good investment, and value for
money for anyone who values their time. I could have taken the long road
with 5107R, with a plain load and then manually integrated this, that and
the other into it - spamassassin, mailscanner, clamav... but I purely dont
have the time so would rather trust it with well supported pkg providers
like Michael and Greg..

Thank you all for your inputs. The Compass module is nice but really
outdated. I read up on WordPress and it is now 3.2.1 and you should
also update your WP regularly as newer version updates security and
bugs, etc. (per recommendation)

Anyhow, there's a 5-minute how to install WP at wordpress.org site and
it's true, it's that quick. Anyone else integrate WP w/their
authentication system? i.e. accounts for the site with e-mail which uses
/etc/shadow?
