If I quickly uncheck secure connect on the login screen, the problem 
goes away for me and I can admin the box just fine.  Thanks for jogging 
my memory.

And I dont blame you for not wanting to try to fix this version Michael 
. I agree with your idea to just wait until the new gui is finished.
