I *very highly* recommend installing a newer PHP via the BlueOnyx Shop. 
   It will have ImageMagick (as well as almost everything else under the 
sun that you could need) pre-loaded.

Toying with the stock PHP is not something to be toyed with, since the 
admserv GUI relies upon it.
