Doesn't really matter as far as the alias goes, the addresses aren't case sensitive. The end user or recipient will probably never see the address as entered in the GUI.  The only place the functionality is needed is in the email client for display, mail from, signature, etc.. Most clients already have that functionality.

Email addresses with uppercase letters, JohnDoe at domain.tld

The GUI won't allow aliases with uppercase letters.
I can add the alias manually by editing and hashing /etc/mail/virtusertable and all is OK until the GUI needs to use the virtusertable and errors occur as expected.

Current practice in the industry is to allow use of uppercase letters in email address Is it possible to alter the GUI to allow upper case email aliases?
