Thank you Michael

I did the yum clean all

I can now see the new GUI login but when I try to log in to the server I get
a connection time out

Meaning I can't get past the Login window to do anything on the server

I even rebooted the server and still no access to the GUI interface after
the login window

Last night I already published the new dependencies for the 5210R build
with the new Elmer GUI.

And a few moments ago I pushed the big release button for the rest of
it. So you now have one fat YUM update incoming that brings the new GUI
aboard.

One new dependency is admserv-php-8.1.27, which is the new stand alone
PHP version that AdmServ uses.

It shouldn't be conflicting with the Solarspeed PHP81-8.1.27-1, but in
your case with yesterdays updates? It might.

Please try this:

yum clean all
yum update

If that still errors out, then please send me the login details via a
"Support Request" in the GUI and I'll take a look.

Yeah, I've just pushed out a admserv-php-8.1.27-1.x86_64.rpm without the
build-id directory and the mirrors probably were still synchronizing
when you ran your "yum update".

That should be sorted by now.

Do a "yum clean all" and a "yum update" and now it should go through.

Hi all,

As you might already have seen from the messages in the last hour: The
modernized BlueOnyx 5210R (with the "Elmer" GUI) is now available via
YUM update.

An updated ISO and virtual machine images have also been published.

See:
https://www.blueonyx.it/news/336/15/BlueOnyx-5210R-New-GUI-Officialy-release
d/

Updated PKGs:
==============

If you're using BlueOnyx Shop PKGs with GUI pages? In that case you NEED
the updated versions of these PKGs in order to be able to manage the
software that these PKGs brought aboard. The GUI pages from older PKGs
are no longer compatible with BlueOnyx 5210R at all.

Updated 5210R PKGs that are fully "Elmer" compatible:

- 5210R-Compass-base-2.2.9-1.pkg (NewLinQ)
- 5210R-Compass-webapps-2.7.0-1.pkg (WebApp Installer)
- 5210R-APF-7.1.0-1.pkg
- 5210R-AV-SPAM-7.3.5-1.pkg
- 5210R-AWStats-7.9-2.pkg
- 5210R-EASY-BACKUP-1.1.3-1.pkg
- 5210R-fail2ban-1.11.2-2.pkg
- 5210R-firewall-8.1.4-1.pkg
- 5210R-OpenVPN-1.1.1-1.pkg

YUM Updates:
============

The BlueOnyx mirrors should be fully synchronized by now and the YUM
updates therefore should be fairly smooth. It *is* a big YUM update
(couple of hundred RPMs), so please be patient while it installs.

After the installation of the YUM updates:
===========================================

Update the Shop PKGs you have installed. See the list above and compare
it with what you have installed. You might also want to check the
expiration date of your support to make sure that "Third Party Software"
shows you the latest "Elmer"-compatible versions for 5210R.

Odds and sods:
===============

You might want to check "Network Services" / "Web" and make sure that
the radio switches for "Options" and "Allow Override" still match your
expected settings. It appears that on some updated BlueOnyx 5210R these
switch back to the defaults during the YUM update.

If the graphics for "CPU Usage", "Memory Usage" and "Network Usage"
don't load on the start page of admin after login? The "Network Usage"
graph has a few seconds delay as it needs to gab two datapoints and not
just one. So that usually loads last. But if nothing shows? Run the
"swatch" command as "root" from SSH and that will fix it. Or in "Active
Monitor" / "Status" press the "Check Status Now" button. That fixes it
as well.

NTPd deprecation: Like BlueOnyx 5211R the modernized BlueOnyx 5210R no
longer used the service "ntpd". Instead it has been switch to "chronyd",
which serves the same function.

Check it out and let us know what you think about the new BlueOnyx 5210R.

We've had the opportunity to knock around with the new GUI on 5210R for
a little over 24 hours now under beta, and in my opinion, it's a big
improvement!?? Kudos, and THANK YOU, Michael, for bringing the new GUI
to 5210R.??? That's a big deal to those of us who, for various reasons,
make a conscious decision to stick with the platform.

Just for purposes of clarification (and correct me if I'm wrong) I
understand that packages under current subscription will update just
fine.?? However, if a server does not have an active subscription
(either via extended support of an individually purchased PKG or via
current BOPE/BOEE subscription) then the PKG as installed on 5210R with
old GUI (Adminica) that upgrades to new GUI (Elmer) will not function
correctly in the GUI.?? It will need to be re-purchased.?? Is that
correct??? (BTW, I think that's certainly fair.)

In short?? OH YEAH!?? We like it!

Thank you, again, for the efforts to port the new GUI to 5210R. It's
made the interface much faster, more streamlined, and far more modern
feeling.

Yes, there was no other way to do this. Before the update BlueOnyx 5210R
was using an really old CodeIgniter framework and the GUI pages for it
have a particular format that's entirely different.

There was no way to make the old GUI pages compatible other than
swapping them out entirely with versions that are (from the ground up)
designed to work with the newer CodeIgniter.

So yeah: The updated PKGs in the Shop are available at no additional
cost to anyone who has purchased the related product(s) with support
that covers at least the release day (today). Or who has an ongoing
rental agreement for the respective products.

If someone purchased the software in the past and the period for support
and free updates has expired? In that case a support extension has to be
purchased to get access to the updates. We do offer volume discounts and
very fair prices and even if that's not enough? We can be reasoned with.

BlueOnyx is available free of charge. But that's only because the shop
PKGs and their respective updates somehow keep this all afloat. Not by
much, but we scrape by.

The development of the new GUI for 5211R and 5210R took around +1200
hours of work all things considered. If regularly billed as a commercial
project that would be in the region of 60-100k EUR of contract work and
would have taken more than twice as long.

In the time I've worked on this donations for around 300 Euros (give or
take) came in, which is much appreciated. But was just a drop on a hot
stone in the face of such a massive undertaking.

OTOH: We all have to thank Dirk Estenfeld of blackpoint GmbH for a
considerable down-payment towards the new GUI that he made a few years
ago. That always kept the pressure up to finally deliver.

At the end of the day it's within the power of the users to keep
BlueOnyx alive, modern and viable by supporting us by purchasing shop
packages and the ongoing support for those.

It are tough times for all of us and I fully understand that. If some of
you have it bad at the moment and can't afford the updates for recent
purchases that may now be outside of support? Contact me in private and
we'll sort something out.
