Hi Chris

Do you mean CUPS like the print server? Seems like an interesting request. We once, LONG AGO, did something like this for a customer to be able to generate/print files on the fly from their DEC Alpha server hosted in our facility so that the output could be viewed at their office on the other side of the country. We used a BlueQuartz machine at the time to do this which was dedicated to that customer. All of that hardware has been long since retired.

Yup – that is what I’m talking about. Customer wants to be able to print from their VPS to office printers.

You should be able to add CUPS via yum or dnf. Keep in mind that this is going to open up additional services (pronounced "security targets") on your server, so if it's shared with other customers that's a potential risk to them. If you've got things well secured and are comfortable with the risks, maybe it's no problem. If it's a truly custom / one-off solution for the customer, you might consider them on a dedicated instance. Food for thought.

This particular VPS is dedicated so no vulnerability there. I would never do it on a shared VPS anyway.

Also access is locked down so not open to the internet.

I just wanted to check it wouldn’t break anything.

Kind regards

Colin
