Try rebuilding the alias database - I've had those same symptioms before. 

Use "service sendmail stop" to stop the sendmail server, "killall sendmail" to terminate any remaining mail processes, then "newaliases" to rebuild the database, and "service sendmail start" to start sendmail again.

Then try sending e-mail to that new domain's users again.
