Alan,
If your ISP is like mine they don't reliably provide reverse lookup for my
connection. I have reverse lookups enabled and when the local DNS is borked
I have to wait for the timeout on the reverse lookup. So, it probably would
not be your DNS setup, but more likely at the other end.
