I recently saw an instance of no.2 on a Dell SC1425 where all the clock 
speeds were well out of beat.  The solution was a bios upgrade so it will 
recognise the newer processor.  Maybe there's a newer version of your bios 
lurking around waiting to be installed.  My one was fixed, now it purrs like 
a kitten.
