Aliases stopped working after an update did all the makemap / restart stuff.
the alias names are in the virtusertable

removed the aliases and re create them. still not working.
      "user unknown"

created a new alias on site called testthis then sent email to it. --
works fine.
So the existing aliases are not working even after deleting alias and then
re-adding them back in.
I cannot delete user and that would really create problems in the system.

ideas welcome.
