What's saying "MySQL connection cannot be established. Check settings." ??
If its the phpMyAdmin saying that - its because you haven't set a MySQL root user password yet. Go into Server Management, Network Services, and click on MySQL. In that page - you can set a root user password. Set one there, then go back and try the phpMyAdmin again. It should work now.
