[BlueOnyx:11160] log_traffic - what does it really do?

Hi all,
We had some local firewall rules getting overwritten each hour - back to 'allow everything' and noticed the following post up in the mailing list archive:
http://mail.blueonyx.it/pipermail/blueonyx/2009-April/001093.html
Michaels solution was to delete the /etc/cron.hourly/log_traffic saying that this file sets up traffic accounting and that there was no harm in deleting this file.
Before I do go ahead and delete this hourly job - could I ask what functionality we will lose by doing so?
Will the webalizer network stats still show traffic graphs for instance?
Cheers,
Jeff
