I'll just offer this: if you don't like this scenario then I have 2
things to mention.
#1: There's nothing not to like, since it won't negatively impact or
change anything with the way that BlueOnyx is offered. It's still
free. You can still purchase add-ons. This just gives the option to
"pay as you go" rather than make an investment up-front.
#2: If you still don't like this scenario, then you can point the finger
at me. This has the potential to be a very convenient option for
VIRTBIZ customers, since it takes some of the "sting" out of the
software purchase on a dedicated server or VPS. Some of our customers
have asked us about the software-as-subscription model and I've passed
that along to Michael & Greg.
The only reason I'm "taking credit" is because I don't want anyone to
get the mistaken impression that the BlueOnyx team has something
sinister in the works and plans to charge for something that was
previously free. That's not the case. It's simply a response to
requests from people such as myself and others.
And like I say, if you still don't like it, then you're doing something
wrong, because there is really nothing to dislike about it. :)
